Forge Island cinema operator and hotel chain announced
The Arc Cinema has exchanged a long-term lease with national urban regenerator, Muse Developments, to become the leisure anchor on Forge Island.
The boutique cinema operator specialises in providing a VIP cinema experience for the price of a standard ticket and currently has six sites across the UK and Ireland, with a further two UK sites under construction and due to open in mid-2021.
Along with the cinema at Forge Island, the latest big-name chain to confirm its involvement is hotel giant Travelodge. Contracts have been exchanged to deliver a 69-bedroom hotel, which will complement the new restaurants and bars.
The new leisure facilities will be set within an attractive public square with a new pedestrian bridge connecting the scheme to the wider town centre, creating an exciting mixed-use destination.

Town Centre Masterplan
The Masterplan sets out an exciting number of developments that will transform and revitalise the town centre, with a vibrant leisure scheme on Forge Island, attractive outdoor spaces, revitalised markets complex and high quality riverside living.
At the heart of the plan is the aim to create an improved visitor experience utilising the waterside location, public spaces and feature buildings, providing new places to eat, drink, shop and visit.
Forge Island occupies a prominent river and canal side site on the edge of Rotherham Town Centre.
This central location allows the site to benefit from excellent access to Rotherham Central Train Station, Rotherham Bus Interchange, the Trans Pennine Trail as well as the strategic road network, with the M1 under a 10 minute drive away.
